Public Health Emergency Preparedness

The Vilas County Public Health Department works in collaboration with the County's Emergency Management Department and many other community partners to build local infrastructure to deal with public health emergencies such as an Influenza pandemic, flood, or water contamination.  An Emergency Plan is in place and continues to be updated as needed.  In Vilas County, collaboration with other community partners is essential in responding to any emergency.  Cooperation and planning for these events enables us to be prepared for any public health emergency.

Vilas County Public Health Department is part of a consortium of fifteen counties in north central Wisconsin that work together on public health preparedness.  The fiscal agent for the consortium is Marathon County Health Department.

Vilas County Public Health Department staff has participated in ongoing training in public health preparedness with mock disaster drills and conference participation.
